Personal installation
Privacy policy
Last updated: 2 October 2026
This policy covers the personal Odysseus installation operated by Yılmaz Bakay and its public information website. The installation connects the operator’s own accounts and is not offered as a public email service.
Information accessed
With the operator’s authorization, Odysseus can access the connected Google account’s email address, mail folders and labels, message headers, senders and recipients, message bodies, and attachments. It stores OAuth access and refresh tokens to maintain the connection. Google handles sign-in; Odysseus does not receive the Google account password through this process.
The requested full mail permission supports Gmail access through IMAP and SMTP. It allows reading, sending, modifying, and deleting mail, including permanent deletion when that action is used.
How information is used
Information is used to provide the operator with email viewing, search, organization, drafting, sending, and related personal assistant features. Depending on enabled features, email content may also be used in summaries, translations, conversations, and draft suggestions. Background synchronization and configured automations may access connected mail while the application is running.
AI processing and other recipients
When an email-related AI feature uses a remote model, the private installation may send relevant message text, sender or recipient details, selected attachments, conversation context, and instructions to the model provider configured by the operator. When a local model is selected, model processing takes place on the system hosting that model. A remote provider’s retention and processing depend on its terms and the operator’s account settings.
Google receives requests needed to authorize and operate the mail connection. Messages sent through Odysseus are delivered to their intended recipients and the mail services involved in delivery. The operator does not sell Google user data or use it for advertising or to train general-purpose AI models.
Use of information received from Google APIs, including transfers to other services, will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Storage and protection
Account configuration and OAuth tokens are stored in the private installation’s application data. Odysseus encrypts stored OAuth tokens using an application key held on the host. Mail caches, downloaded attachments, search indexes, and saved AI conversations or outputs may also be stored on the operator’s devices and in backups. Email remains on Google’s servers unless a mail action changes or deletes it.
Access to the private installation is restricted to the operator. Encryption of credentials does not mean that all cached messages, attachments, conversations, or backups are encrypted by the application.
Retention, revocation, and deletion
Connection credentials are kept while an account is configured. Cached mail, attachments, conversations, generated outputs, and backups may remain until the operator removes them; there is no fixed automatic deletion period promised by this installation.
The operator can revoke the app’s Google authorization at Google Account connections and remove the mailbox connection in Odysseus. Revocation stops authorized future access but does not itself erase previously stored copies. Removing those copies requires deleting the relevant application data, saved conversations, downloads, and backups. Data already sent to a remote provider is subject to that provider’s retention and deletion controls.
This public website
These information pages contain no sign-in form, email content, advertising, or application analytics scripts. Their hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes ordinary web request information such as IP addresses and request metadata to deliver and protect the website, under its privacy policy. The website does not connect visitors to Gmail or receive the private installation’s OAuth tokens.
